We are starting our fight with Meta, X and TikTok.
Does writing this sentence feel delusional?
Maybe.
On one side:
Social media giants worth hundreds of billions.
Almost unlimited resources.
And billions of daily users.
On the other:
Just us. 🇪🇺
A three-month-old European startup with over 100,000 users.
And a high level of ambition.
So, what are our chances?
If you ask me: real.
If you ask some of the naysayers who have been criticizing us since day one (although there seem to be fewer of them with every new milestone we hit) - probably very small.
Maybe they are right.
But look at the history of tech.
Name me one founder who built something truly transformative without being considered slightly delusional at the beginning.
I can’t think of one.
At some point, every entrepreneur has to look at something much bigger than themselves and think:
“Why not us?”
I know something about being the unlikely candidate.
I was a kid with ADHD whom not many people would have bet on.
But I never stopped believing that vision, persistence, hard work and grit could change the odds.
And maybe that’s what entrepreneurship is ultimately all about:
The art of defying the odds.
Not ignoring them.
Defying them!
Because ambition doesn’t mean blindness.
@Jasseem Allybokus and I know exactly what we’re up against.
We know that 100,000 users after three months is encouraging, but still microscopic when you’re competing with American and Chinese social media giants.
We know that early traction doesn’t guarantee future success.
We know that we still have to prove that we can retain users, scale, build a sustainable business and continue to raise the capital required to compete.
There are many reasons why eYou could fail.
And pretending otherwise would be foolish.
But there are also more and more reasons to believe that we can succeed.
Will we?
I think so.
But only the future will tell whether we were visionaries… or simply delusional.
Until then, we’ll keep building.
We’ll keep believing.
We’ll keep fighting.
And most importantly, we’ll keep defying the odds.
Together with the people who ultimately have the power to change those odds:
YOU, our users. 🩵
---
Now, over to you:
→ Why do you think @eYou will succeed?
Or, maybe more interestingly:
→ Why do you think we could fail?
